Food at Lincoln Christmas market
In my opinion there's no other way to get around a christmas market other than stopping every few minutes for something to eat.
Whether that be stopping for a traditional german bratwurst or drinking some christmas booze. Lincoln’s christmas market has it all for you to enjoy. Here is a few of the places we popped to on my way round (and most importantly their prices).
Our first stop was to grab some mulled wine. Hot alcohol? Yes, please! It's Christmas - it's a drinking essential in my eyes. This cost £3.50 from the tent in Castle Square outside the tourist information centre, a good starting point for a Christmas market adventure.
By the time we had made my way around the majority of stalls and bought some festive potpourri, it was time for some proper food.
In Lincoln Castle my mum chose to get the hog roast with apple sauce form the Redhill Farm stall, which cost £5.50. I don’t eat pork but I have been assured it was very lovely.
If you're like me and not much of a meat-eater then you might prefer a pizza from the Salted Orange Food Co. I chose the Chef’s Favourite - this had a base of red onion marmalade topped with goats cheese and (I think) spinach. Very delicious - a whole pizza cost £8.00 or half a pizza for £4.00.
We continued our way around to The Lawn section of the market where we picked up some tea as it was very chilly by this time which cost us £1.60 each from the Real Tea & Coffee Company.
We sat down to drink our tea but the Continental Bakery caught our eyes and, goodness me they had a large array of cakes, pastries and sweet treats for all. We picked up some cherry and custard pastries which cost us £2.50 each and we also grabbed some Focaccia bread for later; one cheese & tomato and one cheese & olive - these were £2.00 each and DELICIOUS!
By this point I was very very cold and needed another hot drink - so off to Gwatkin Cider Co. I picked myself up a warming mulled cider for a yummy £3.00.
We completed our four hour lap of the market by making our way to the start for a final mulled wine before descending back down steep hill so we could go home and defrost our frozen limbs.
