It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
The countdown to Christmas is amongst us. The evenings are darker, the air is colder, the grit is laid, the sad Christmas adverts are playing, the fairy lights are glistening and the baubles are beginning to hang from the tree. That can only mean one thing... the reindeers are just around the corner.
The Christmas Lights Switch-On thrived with excitement from families and friends as people gathered in Lincoln's High Street, St Marks Shopping Centre, City Square and the Waterside Shopping Centre to see the city ignite with vibrant lights and entertainment.
The festive event was hosted by the Mayor of Lincoln Councillor Chris Burke and the council’s Civic Party.
The anticipation could be felt as children and parents made their way through the High Street with gleeful cheers and smiles.
A packed evening of family fun kicked off at St Marks Shopping Centre at 5pm with music, children's entertainment, a snow cannon, the cast from Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime at Lincoln Drill Hall, and a snow globe selfie station.
St Marks shopping centre was lit with a fairy-lit bauble display, as well as icicle drops and lit up lampposts this evening as the 3..2..1 countdown ended with a beautiful presentation of cheers and lit up faces.
The streets had a carnival atmosphere as people of all ages gathered to watch the various events and live music throughout the city centre.
