Army Reserve Open Evening in Lincoln
Lincoln Army Reserve Centre will be demonstrating the huge variety of opportunities available as they open their doors for a public open evening.
Held at the Army Reserve Centre on Burton Road, on Wednesday 8th November, the evening will include representatives from The 3rd Battalion, Royal Anglians, also known as The Steelbacks.
Visitors will be able to speak to representatives from each unit and take a look at some of the kit and equipment used by the soldiers during training and operations.
As the British Army gets ready for the changes in 2020, many reservist units around the country have been recruiting new personnel as the Regulars figures will be cut, and Reservists will be more relied on.
Civilians can find themselves meeting the current serving personnel, and having lessons on what will be expected if they were to join the British Army.
Warrant Officer (WO1), John Limb, 52, who also helps with recruiting for the regiment, said: "We hold these evenings so people can get a taste of what is expected.
"They will take part in a little bit of physical activity amongst the private soldiers, as well as a class on what the British Army is, and is about - and a short lesson on weapons, where they will be able to hold some of the weapons in the armoury."
